We are a sister duo that decided to join forces and start Coates Photography together! We strive to capture the moments that will make your heart flutter with excitement. We are always on the lookout for that raw and real shot! Our aim is for you to look at your images and feel an immediate connection. A connection that will take you right back to that moment and tell your story.
While studying photography I fell in love with portraiture. Discovering people's vibes and translating it into an image was a thrill. Following my post secondary studies I found a passion for nature and wildlife photography which was a perfect combination with Amber and my passion for camping! I loved waiting for the perfect moment in an atmosphere that I truly had no control over. This became a love for photographing events and capturing natural moments. There is nothing more rewarding than that perfect unplanned shot! - Brittany
I studied film production and focused on pre-production management. Like Britt, I had a passion for capturing moments. However, I would often find myself more interested in what Britt was up to with photography. While camping together I would end up with her on the lake or in the bush for hours as she was capturing wildlife and if you can’t beat’ em…join’ em!It was then Britt started teaching me more specifically about photography (as opposed to film) and I started second shooting for her and loving every second! - Amber
We have both worked in other sections of the wedding industry, from a florist shop to a bridal salon. We understand how much thought and effort goes into your big day! So much time and detail goes into making your day truly unique and we believe this should be reflected in your wedding photography!
What makes us…well us!
It is safe to say photography is a huge part of our lives! It is also safe to assume that during the summer weekends, if we are not shooting a wedding we are camping. Getting out into nature is another passion of ours. From canoeing, hiking, paddle boarding and any fun activity in between, we love to be outdoors.
We started out front country camping and eventually decided to get into back country and its been a ton of incredible memories ever since! We are currently working on training our newest camping buddy, Quin (our St. Bernard/Bernese Mountain Dog) to be the goodest girl while camping. After all, no one likes a flipped canoe.
We also love to travel and hope we can do it more often in the future! Give us a plane ticket and the promise of an adventure and we will start packing!
We are also lovers of live music and have managed to see many of our bucketlist artists! You can catch us at any show from Dolly Parton to My Chemical Romance! Music is a roller coaster and so is our playlists.
